Vacuums defeat Video Games in Kickball
In a stunning game of kickball that saw All-Star Reliever Chip Schwab blow three saves, the Uber-Nietzschean Vacuums claimed a 8-7 victory on a walk-off three-run, home run.
The game was ripe with scoring and highlight plays. The UNV's claimed a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first, but the Too Tired for Video Games lab tied the game in the top of the third. The Video Games claimed a lead in the top of the fourth on a highly contested play. While three runners scored, one runner passed another as they crossed the plate - resulting in two outs. The Vacuums then tied the game in the bottom of the sixth. The Video Games came back and take the lead in the top of the seventh, but Chip could not hold on for his first save as the Vacuums tied the game. No one scored in the eighth inning, but the Video Games took the lead again in the top of the ninth and Chip blew his second save in the bottom of the ninth. In the top of the tenth the Video Games took what looked like an insurmountable two run lead.
In the bottom of the tenth, Paul Mabrey's lead off triple put the Vacuums in good shape - but two pop flies later the Video Games win looked all but certain. The Vacuums then rallied. A single set the stage for the next batter (Aaron Boone)... who hit the game winning three-run, homerun.
There also were some excellent and hilarious defensive plays. While running to first, the Video Games Lab Leader Cheryl Stanga slid into first base, came up short, and earned some grass stains. Joel Lemuel was injured on three plays - twice by his own team. Video Game lab leader Nick Bubb fell over while batting and committed multiple errors while playing third base. Excellent plays were made on defense though. The Video Games Colton Karoses made several important catches (mostly of Joel's kicks) and the Vacuums also had a stellar diving catch.
Lab Challenge points were wagered on the competition, but Special Commissioner Dr. Tim Dale ruled that points cannot be wagered during outdoor fun. So no points were changed.

Critical Lecture
Luis Magallon and Paul Mabrey are giving the Regents an informative lecture on Critical Arguments. While the staff was amazed that most of the students knew the rules for handling Gremlins, the staff was also disappointed that no one got the rules of Hulkamania.
